Sometimes we come away from the darker months and get that feeling that it’s time for one hell of a good drinking beer. Not a macro fizz with an aluminum aftertaste, but some solid, honest, simple, refreshing option that goes down really, really easy. Vancouver brewer Russell Brewing Company nailed this beer, but made it a very BC-beer with the more familiar hops punch we Westcoasters are known to enjoy. They kept the malt the same as their Czech-style Eastern Promises, but added citra hops to make us drool. It’s the kind of beer experience that you can have late afternoon, or by the evening fire, or both.
And whether Western or Eastern Promises, there is one promise I like to make after every post (when I can). I’ve googled extensively and not seen a single photo of this exquisite beer consumed anywhere in BC’s Cariboo region, so I’m staking my all familiar claim that I’m the very first person to quaff one of these here.
